Week One In The Bag

It has been over a week now since Sales.mx relaunched our new website and marketplace. So far feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. Folks are happy to see a new venue available that caters to the .mx domain aftermarket, and although the community of .mx domain investors are still much smaller than more well-established ccTLDs such as .de (Germany) or .co.uk (United Kingdom), the investors I am speaking with are optimistic about the future of .mx.

In case you have not done so yet, you may want to have a fresh look through our top sales leaderboard.  We did not actively log new entries for most of 2012, and you’ll find a number of new sales listed there that you may not have had a chance to see yet.  In fact, 2013 saw its first reported 4-figure sale this past week.  That sale was MailChimp.mx for 1,800 USD and currently occupies the #28 position.

In an upcoming blog post we will be analyzing aftermarket activity and sales trends over the past three years, and hope to be able to paint you with a better picture of where the .mx market is today and where it’s moving.  The overall domain market has lulled some over the same period, from its former highs predating the 2008/09 meltdown of U.S. and global financial markets, but we may be seeing some signs of a turnaround in 2013.  It is part of our goal that the presence of the Sales.mx marketplace and efforts we will be making in the coming year to expand our outreach will help uplift the volume of .mx market activity towards new highs alongside the broader domain market.

With that aim in mind, we have an extensive road map planned for 2013, to add new features and functionality to Sales.mx that we hope will build further traction in the marketplace.  Chief among those will be the addition of full language translation making Sales.mx a completely bi-lingual site for Spanish/English speaking users alike.  Stay tuned, as we will be sharing more of our road map in the near future to give everyone a better picture of what’s in store.

On a final note, today we have eclipsed our 100th .mx domain name added to the marketplace.  While this is a very modest number, we rest in the knowledge that you have to start somewhere, and this is only the beginning.  We’re also thrilled to report that despite a modest inventory we’ve already received an initial offer on one of our domains!  I would also add, that the offer was not of the ‘lowball’ variety in the $xx or even low $xxx range, but was a respectable opening offer, and the domain is still under negotiation.  So things are off to a slow but exciting start, and we can’t wait to share more with you over the coming year.

If you have .mx domains that you would like to be listed for sale on the Sales.mx marketplace, please send us a request for invite now and I will personally attend to helping you get your domains submitted to the site. You may send us a request here.

Thank you for reading, and for your ongoing interest and support of Sales.mx and the .mx domain aftermarket.

Sincerely,

Michael Curving, Founder
Sales.mx
